Waiting

Doesn't she look so much different with some fluids and food in her?

Today, for me, has been filled with a sense of waiting for something to happen. It is nice to just sit here with Riley, but it feels like it is just the calm before the storm. The later in the day it gets the "heavier" and closer it starts to feel. It will be the last time I hear her say "Da-da" for a while. She will be sedated for at least 36 hours or so (surgery ~8hrs, then still sedated for another 24 hours or so of her initial recovery time). I think the next few days will be especially long and hard, but I have faith that God will care for my (and his) sweet baby girl, Riley.
I also want to thank everyone who has called, emailed, prayed, texted, commented on the blog...it is all so encouraging. If you haven't heard back from us, believe us when we say it is still appreciated. With so many people following her journey, it is hard to communicate with everyone, so we will continue to use the blog to post updates.
To give you an idea of tomorrow, I think they will take her down about 6:30 am tomorrow, begin prepping her at 8:30, and operating around 10:00. Thanks for your prayers.
Jaron

  1. Hello, I happened upon your blog of your wonderful family via my daughter's blog. I am praying for Riley and for your family that the Lord will continue to go before everything tomorrow and shelter each one of you in His hands. We do serve a loving, compassionate God who is no stranger to our troubles and I pray that through this Riley will be healed and all glory be given to Him! Thank you for sharing your trials and triumphs with others. It gives hope to our so-desperately-in-need world. And brings perspective to our lives. Ü
    Blessings & Love in Christ.

  5. Jenni... Totally thinking of you and your family. I'll fall asleep tonight praying for Riley and she will be the first thing on my thoughts in the morning.

On a strange note, I thought Carole was MY MOM. Since I put you on my blog, that is my mother's name, AND you don't see that many Carole's spelled with an "E". Sounds like you have a ton of support!!!

Surrounding you with peace and love and all good things.

  7. I pray for peace and strength for both of you tomorrow during Riley's surgery. I pray for the surgeon performing the surgery that God will keep him sharp and his hands steady. I pray for Riley that God will send His angels to watch over and comfort her. You are and will be in our thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Blessings,

  10. Dear Jenni & Jaron,
Riley does look much better with the nutrients she's been receiving.
All we did at the Six40 meeting last night was pray with all our hearts, especially for precious Riley's surgery and recovery.
We are here for you, ready to help in any way needed. Love, Ruth
