Trying
Since we have been here at LPCH I have been super sensitive to patients and their families. There are so many sad things here and my heart has been so full of love for everyone I have come into contact with. I have found myself being pretty understanding and patient for all that goes on here...until tonight. We are in a 4 patient room only seperated by curtains. There is a family next to us whose daughter is very young (younger than Riley) and is going to be undergoing a transplant of some sort. When I first got here to relieve Jaron she was screaming, but it really did not bother me. I felt for her and her family and was sympathetic. Now it has been about an hour and the dad has yelled at the mom a few times, is burping very loudly and extending them out in a very gross way, and is beatboxing in a very annoying fashion. Yes, I am at the end of patience. It's going to be a long night.

No cocktail hour in the hospital?! Should I send Steve up with some margaritas?
ReplyDeleteoohh, so sorry about the "roommates".
ReplyDeleteI adore the picture of Riley with the glasses on! I'mm still praying for you. I'll check on the reservations right now for late next week. I looked them over this morning. Luv,Mom
Ewwww!!! If that is how he is when he knows he is around strangers, just think how he must be in his home with his family. Disgusting! I hope that he will go to sleep so that you can get a good night's sleep. :o)
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! Remember the story I told you about our roommate there? =) Much sympathy sent your way! Can I bring you some chocolate???!!! =)
ReplyDeletein my nursing practice i try to remind myself all the time that it takes all kinds of special to make this beautiful world...still i wish we didn't have to "enjoy" all of it. hang in there. i am praying still...
ReplyDeleteOh wow, with the emotional roller coaster you're on the burping guy is the last thing you need. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteI think noise is the # 1 annoyance during hospital stays. It is very disruptive to have noise coming from inconsiderate folks in the same room, and then you have the hallway noise too. I'll be praying for that as well. Please let us know if you need meals delivered or anything else.
ReplyDeleteHope you survived the night and get out of that ICU quickly!!! =)
ReplyDeleteDearest Jenni and Jaron,
ReplyDeleteOver and over I have been so blessed by the sharing of your thoughts with us.....and have thought what a bright light each of you are in this hospital. I know it is much more than your words and must radiate around you to staff and other patients and families -- the beautiful Spirit of Jesus. You've encouraged me so much and I know great glory has been and will continue to be given to God through this. I love the evidence of how He is loving and holding both of you.
Honored to be your Aunt Karen
I sure hope the night was much better than you had thought it was going to be. All of us at Harker are thinking of all of you.
ReplyDeleteHang in there Jenni! Accepting the fact that there are rude people wherever you go is easier said than done. On another note, I'm bringing you dinner tomorrow - so expect a call from me sometime then - I am guessing I will be there around 7pm, depending on traffic. Does that work for you guys?
